Consultation on Admission Arrangements 2023/24
In line with the School Admissions Code, Cathedral Schools Trust (CST), which is the admission authority, is consulting on the admission arrangements for the following schools within the Trust for the academic year 2023/24;
- Bristol Cathedral Choir School (BCCS) 11-16 provision
- Bristol Cathedral Choir School (BCCS) Post 16 provision
- Cathedral Primary School (CPS)
- Victoria Park Primary School (VPPS)
The proposal is to remove the staff criterion* (see below), from the priority list for admissions for these schools; this is the only change. The criterion has been in place for a number of years and the admissions authority felt that it was an appropriate time to seek views from all stakeholders to determine whether it is still appropriate.
*Staff criterion (as set out in Admission Arrangements 2021/22 or 2022/23) - priority will be given to children who are sons/daughters of employees of the School. This will include all teaching and non-teaching staff who have;
a. been employed permanently at the school for two or more years at the time at which the application for admission to the school is made, or;
b. where the member of staff is recruited to fill a vacant post for which there is a demonstrable skill shortage.
The proposed admission arrangements for the above schools can be viewed below;
The consultation process will run from Tuesday 23rd November 2021 to 12 noon on Tuesday 11th January 2022.
It is important to emphasise that this is a consultation process and that all views will be heard as part of this and a final decision will not be made until after the consultation has ended.
If you would like to comment or offer feedback on the proposed admission arrangements please complete the form here, ticking the relevant box to show which school your comments refer to. Please note responses received after 12 noon on 11th January 2022 will not be considered.

Variations to our Admission Arrangements effective from 1st September 2021
In line with the introduction of the new School Admissions Code in September 2021, schools which are their own Admission Authorities have been required to put specific variations in place to previously determined admission arrangements for 2021/22 and 2022/23.
These relate to the definition of looked after and previously looked after children (children in care/previously in care whether in England or elsewhere), the definition of 'Home', in year admission procedures and how distance is measured.
These variations were determined for use by Cathedral Schools Trust (CST) who is the admission authority. You can view the Admission Arrangements for 2021/22 and 2022/23 by following the links below:
As of 1st July 2021 Hotwells Primary School became part of the trust.
As of 1st August 2021 St Werburgh's Primary School became part of the trust.
